Eastern Mediterranean University Celebrated World Choral Day

With the aim of raising awareness on the World Choral Day, Eastern Mediterranean University Education Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department, Music Teacher Education Program gave a mini concert at the front yard of EMU Rector’s Office at 3:30 p.m. on 5 December 2014.

Declared as the World Choral Day by IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music), ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) and UNESCO, 8 December World Choral Day is celebrated through concerts taking place at different places throughout the world. Within the framework of the event, many youth and adult choirs organise activities for a week throughout Turkey. During the concert which took place under the conductorship of EMU Fine Arts Education Department Music Teaching Program academic staff member and chorus conductor Erkan Dağlı, students sang various songs from world choral literature as well as pieces from Turkish and Cypriot folk songs.

During his opening address, Erkan Dağlı thanked EMU Rector’s Office for their support. EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici thanked everyone who contributed to the event and stated that their beautiful performance brought positive energy.

At the end of the event which was attended by a large group of students as well as Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca presented a bouquet of flowers to Erkan Dağlı.
