Guidance and Psychological Counseling Undergraduate Program (Turkish) (B.S., 4 Years)
Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program is a four year undergraduate program which aims to educate school counselors. The program which is designed and approved by the Higher Education Council in Turkey offers both theoretical and practical subject area courses and courses related to teaching profession. Besides having the opportunity to become school counselors in North Cyprus and/or in Turkey, graduates of this program can also work as counselors both in public or private institutions. The language of instruction is Turkish.
Our departmental library includes some unique reference publications that can be borrowed on a long or short-term basis. Our students also have access to a Guidance and Counseling Room where they can practice individual and in group counseling techniques. Furthermore, they can utilize various audio-video products to enhance their personal and professional growth.The Department of Educational Sciences provides various opportunities for students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program to implement their theoretical knowledge in a great range of institutions including private and state schools, special education centers through on-site practical experiences at different levels. Besides professional knowledge and skills as counselors, our students develop their analytical thinking skills and gain a global approach to matters of education and daily events taking place around them and around the world.
Students graduating from the Guidance and Psychological Counseling program (GPC) will be able to serve as school counselors in schools. Thus, they will act as mediators in administration, teacher-student-family interaction, coordination and cooperation for a healthier and better functioning school environment where everyone will be happy and satisfied. Graduates of GPC program will also be able to initiate private counseling offices where they will be giving services such as family counseling, career counseling, coping with stress, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and so on. They will also have the opportunity to give services in small, medium and large sized enterprises for the betterment of human relations, establishment of positive work environments, thus improving productivity. Those graduates who specialize in group counseling will be able to serve teams in workplaces, teams in military, teacher teams in schools, sports teams and any team of people who are gathered around the same goal.
