About Faculty

In the current era of increasing international competition and fast-changing technological developments, the mission of the Eastern Mediterranean University Faculty of Tourism is to train highly qualified advanced and intermediate workforce providing social and economical contributions to the tourism sector both in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

When the Faculty of Tourism was established in 1990, it offered only an A.A.S. degree.

In 1992, it started offering a BS degree in Tourism. Considering the needs of the tourism sector, the Faculty also emphasizes practical training besides theoretical education. To serve this purpose, the demo kitchen and the Tower restaurant and Beach Club, the world-wide used computer programs FIDELIO, GALILEO, and AMADEUS all aim to provide students with practical knowledge and an education which matches the needs of the scientific and technological era.

The philosophy of the Faculty is to provide an education which will enable its students to graduate with the ability to think, to express themselves with grace and clarity in writing and speech, to maintain values in relation to their chosen profession, and to demonstrate confidence in themselves. The Faculty of Tourism aims to be the leading educational institution in the Mediterranean region in preparing managerial candidates that will generate knowledge, and have the ability and skills to develop and practice this knowledge accordingly.

With its fundamental mission of bringing up qualified, modern, innovative, creative and productive workforce educated in a student-centered and competitive environment, an elite group of prominent and experienced academics who have major publications in international journals or who have given many years to sector offer quality education at our Faculty.

In line with the growing demand of the tourism sector both within our region and throughout the world, the Tourism and Hospitality Management undergraduate program has been designed to bring up advanced, intermediate and entry level managerial candidates who possess intellectual and leadership skills and, at the same time, closely follow the latest developments in the hospitality sector in the world. .

In line with its mission and vision, our faculty endeavors to become one of the leading educational institutions in the world and contribute to the promotion of the TRNC both within Turkey and other countries through its modern curriculum and learning techniques, and proven educational quality. With the advantages provided by the educational program supported by relevant practice opportunities, our students pursue a wide spectrum of job opportunities upon their graduation.

Regarding the facilities offered by our faculty, 3 computer labs with CD-ROM, multimedia, Internet and e-mail facilities are available for students. Through multimedia lab integrated programs, in-class learning is supported by the integration of multi-media into the program. The worldwide used software FIDELIO aims to provide students with practical knowledge and an education which matches the needs of the scientific and technological era. Two demo kitchens are used to assist the students in gaining a thorough insight into the operation and management of a professional kitchen. Additionally, students are offered the opportunity of implementing theory into practice in Tower Restaurant by applying the service techniques they learned in their courses. With the advantages provided by the educational program supported by relevant practice opportunities, our students pursue a wide spectrum of job opportunities upon their graduation.

The Tourism and Hospitality Associate Degree program aims to bring up intellectually developed intermediate work force who will meet the demands of the world tourism sector in managerial positions. As well as meeting the sectoral needs and preparing them for the professional life, our programs motivate students in becoming creative and innovative individuals. With the advantages provided by the educational program supported by relevant practice opportunities, our students pursue a wide spectrum of job opportunities upon their graduation.

The aim of the Culinary Arts Associate Degree Program is to cater for the demand for qualified professionals who possess the skills to produce quality food and beverages from different national and international cuisines.
