Doctor of Dental Medicine Undergraduate Program (Joint program with University of Health Sciences/Turkey) (D.D.M., 5 Years)

Involves quality services, patient safety, focused research on the society's oral and dental health care, social service awareness, humanistic and ethical principles, scientific knowledge and research results that apply and believe in the superiority of science, meeting the needs and expectations of patients, providing competent dentists to the society at large. In order to achieve internationally recognized excellence within the activities of the Faculty of Dentistry, the program aims at adopting an understanding of positive independent thinking within the framework of academic and ethical values, being student-centered in education, and paying attention to the satisfaction of its employees, meanwhile, working and providing services in harmony with its external stakeholders.

Education

The Faculty of Dentistry has been developed within the framework of a joint education and training program and will be conducted in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Dentistry and University of Health Sciences (SBU) Faculty of Dentistry.

The Dentistry program will be carried out by EMU in Northern Cyprus in the pre-clinical phase (1st and 2nd Years) and will be completed by SBU in a period of five years during which the clinical phases (3-5 Years) will be performed in Istanbul. The official language of the program is 30% English and 70% Turkish.

During the pre-clinical studies, international students will have the opportunity to learn Turkish as it will be necessary for the dentist-patient communication at the clinical stage. Istanbul clinical stage of Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry will be held by SBI and hospitals in Turkey.

The joint program aims to bring together education, research and patient care and provide students with the opportunity to become part of the most modern dental research. The common curriculum will integrate basic science education and clinical teaching into community-based learning.

Facilities

EMU Faculty of Dentistry offers quality teaching with an experienced teaching staff with international recognition and knowledge. Instructors provide a highly interactive atmosphere during classes and practical sessions and provide a rigorous and supportive educational environment to fully support students' academic, personal and professional development. Students are encouraged to learn about critical thinking and analysis as early as possible and are encouraged to use these skills and express their ideas freely and constructively.
Students receive structured training for research, learn to interpret evidence-based dentistry, and assist in research projects. Training is provided in a well-designed environment including most up to date scientific research and education laboratories.
