Department of Banking and Finance
Our mission is to provide our students with education benchmarking the highest international standards in the area of banking and finance. Our graduates will become financial sector specialists who are needed to improve the management of private sector financial institutions as well as to design the financial and monetary policies in public sector institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.

Department of Banking and Finance has modern teaching facilities such as five computer laboratories, internet connections that provide an opportunity for students to follow the latest developments in the world-wide capital markets. Furthermore, it provides internship facilities to its students in some of the best financial institutions of the region. Through the Programs offered by the Department of Banking and Finance, many international students are provided with many facilities such as “Foreign Students’ Club” that enable them to interact with each other and also organize cultural activities. In addition, the “Finance and Stock Exchange Club” which is run by students under the supervision of faculty members, gives students and opportunity to gain experience on financial markets. The Finance and the Stock Exchange Club organizes certificate programs in cooperation with the financial institutions from the financial sector.
The department has proven its competence in the field of banking and finance education with the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) accreditation from Germany it received in 2014. Our students get the chance of improving their written and oral communication and individual research skills. In addition to this, in many courses, much of the weight is given to term projects, assignments and practical application of knowledge and skills. We believe, this approach is an advantage for our graduates after their graduation, when they are looking for jobs.
The Department of Banking and Finance, along with its educational responsibilities, is contributing to the recognition and economic development of the TRNC through various means. Graduates from the Department have already been employed in very prestigious institutions around the Globe which contributes to the recognition of our university and country. The Department has distinguished professors who continuously publish in top ranking journals in the field and have considerable international experience in teaching and research. Staff members of the Department are among the most publishing professors not only in Cyprus but also in the region. The Department of Banking and Finance has also collaborations with international institutions such as Canadian Securities Institute that provides certificate programs to students at international level. The Department has organized international conferences and seminars by inviting very famous professors from such international institutions as Harvard University and New York State University.

Graduates of the Department of Banking and Finance are frequently demanded by the banking and finance sectors around the Globe. Some examples are African Development Bank (Tunis), European Bank for Reconstruction Development (EBRD, London), JP Morgan (New York), Isbank (Turkey), Alfa Bank (Albania), Bank of Montreal (Canada), Stanbic Bank (Ghana), and HSBC Bank (Turkey and North Cyprus). Therefore, these are indicators to prove the existence of quality education provided by Programs of the Department of Banking and Finance. Our department is regularly in close touch with our alumni. We are proud of observing that reality that our graduates are being employed in their countries within a year. It has been a tradition for our department to be frequently called by distinguished banks and financial institutions in Turkey and North Cyprus in order to employ our graduates.
Graduates of the Programs offered by the Department of Banking and Finance have excellent job opportunities in private financial institutions as well as in key government ministries and agencies, including central banks.
