Sümer Ezgü Performs at EMU with Folk Songs

The annual EMU with Folk Songs event organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate featured Turkey’s popular artist Sümer Ezgü famous for his unique style of Turkish Folk music.

The event that took place at the EMU Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex on Friday, the 15th of December 2017 commenced at 19:00 with a mini concert by EMU Music Club- Grup Mavra, whose performance was followed by the Turkish Cypriot Folk singer Turgay Salim.

Plaques of appreciation were presented to Grup Mavra and Salim for their contributions to the night by EMU Student Council Chair  Arda Özden. In his speech Özden welcomed the crowd to the event touching on the importance of folk songs in Turkish culture.

The final of the big organization that was open to the public free of charge featured Sümer Ezgü performing his delightful folk songs such as “Cemilem”, “Hüdayda”, “Anadolu’dan Geldik” and “Hop Diri Diri Dat Diri”.

At the end of the concert a plaque of appreciation was presented to Ezgü by Prof. Dr. Osam, who in a short speech thanked the performer and all in attendance.
