Organised annually by Eastern Mediterranean University Social and Cultural Activities Directorate in collaboration with EMU Student Council, “6th EMU with Folk Songs” took place at EMU Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center at 7:00 p.m. on 12 December 2014.
The event hosted the concert of music groups from the Cyprus International University and Middle East University Cyprus Campus as well as EMU Turkish Folk Music Community and EMU Music Club. Following the concerts, EMU Student Council Chair İbrahim Öztürk and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan delivered speeches.
Following the addresses, doyenne of Turkish folk songs Edip Akbayram fascinated the audience with a magnificent concert. At the end of the concert, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan and Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu presented a plaque of appreciation to Edip Akbayram.
Prior to the concert, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca, Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan and Prof. Dr. Bekir Özer hosted famous singer Edip Akbayram at EMU Rector’s Office. Expressing his pleasure in visiting EMU and TRNC, Edip Akbayram thanked the vice rectors for their hospitality.
