The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) was represented at the AEGEE (European Students’ Forum) NWM (Network meeting) which took place in Ankara, Turkey. Hosted by the Middle East Technical University, the event was attended by President of EMU Azerbaijan Students Society Toghrul Abbasov.
Starting with visits to the historical Ankara castle and Anıtkabir mausoleum the event included around 40 participants from 15 different universities of 10 different countries like Northern Cyprus, Hungary, Germany, Italy, England, Russia, Spain, Greece, Azerbaijan and the host country Turkey. The meeting had sessions about increasing knowledge about the European Bodies of the organization, Public Relations, Summer Universities, European Citizen's Initiative and Youth Mobility, learning in AEGEE and the political situation in Turkey & Europe. In his short statement, Abbasov noted his happiness regarding representing EMU at one of the AEGEE’s most productive events.
What is AEGEE?
AEGEE (European Students’ Forum) is one of Europe’s biggest interdisciplinary student organisations, striving for a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Founded in 1985 in Paris, today AEGEE has grown to a Network of 13000 friends, present in 200 cities in 40 countries all over Europe. Through its activities, they empower students and young people in Europe to take an active role in society. They create a space for dialogue and learning opportunities as well as act as their representatives towards decision-makers. AEGEE strengthens mutual understanding amongst young Europeans and brings Europe closer to young people.
