EMU MIKA’s Career Development Program Continues

Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communications and Career Research Directorate (MIKA), a Career Development Program aiming to contribute to the career planning of EMU students commenced with a conference at EMU Özay Oral Library Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, 18 May 2018. Among those who participated in the said organisation were Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova, Director of EMU MIKA Derviş Ekşici, EMU Education Faculty, Computer and Instructional Technologies Education Department academic staff member and Distance Education Institute Director Prof. Dr. M. Yaşar Özden and students.

“Career Planning is Important”

Delivering the opening speech of the conference, Vice Rector for Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova stated that with the increase of globalisation, the career world has undergone changes so have the career planning methods. Adding that during old times, people used to work for long years doing the same job to obtain senior position in their jobs, Prof. Dr. Tanova put forth that  the situation is different now. Prof. Dr. Tanova stated that at present people have to change their jobs to climb the ladder of success in their careers. People now do their career planning by choosing different positions at different companies or by acting as entrepreneurs and establishing their own companies. Recommending students to do their career plans before their graduation, Prof. Dr. Tanova thanked everyone who contributed to the organisation of the event.

EMU Tourism Faculty, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department academic staff member Turan Değirmencioğlu delivered a presentation titled “Interview Techniques in Work and Education” and provided details on important points of consideration prior to job interviews.

More Seminars to Be Delivered

On the second day of the Career  Development Program, EMU Graduate and Creditwest Bank Human Resources Director Fatma Zorlu Çelebi delivered a presentation titled  “Career and Interview Tips”. The program continued on 22 May 2018 with three different seminars, namely “The Importance of Project Management in Career Path” by Kaner Group of Companies Purchasing and Internal Auditing Manager Meliha Kaymak and “The Future with Evolving and Changing Youth” by EMU Expert Psychologists Hatice Tüfekçioğlu and Fatoş Özeylem Özen.
