EMU 10th International Career Days Commence with Communication Faculty, Cinema and Television Department

The 10th of the International Career Days which is organized annually by the Eastern Mediterranean University Alumni and Career Research Directorate (EMU-MIKA) commenced on Wednesday, 23 March 2022 with EMU Communication Faculty, Cinema and Television Department. Taking place at 11:00 at the Purple Hall located in Communication Faculty, the event hosted famous documentary producer Tüluhan Tekelioğlu. The event began with the screening of Tekelioğlu’s documentary called “You Are the Power” which is about the success stories of young individuals from different geographies of Turkey who made their ways to success facing different hardship and obstacles. In the documentary, Tekelioğlu approaches inspiring stories of 8 young people who come from very different family structures. The documentary attracted great interest from the audience. Following the screening, the event continued with a talk at 12:30.

“Overcoming the Obstacles with Their Mothers”

Encouraging the EMU Communication Faculty, Cinema and Television Department students to always follow their dreams, Tüluhan Tekelioğlu stated that there is always hope even in the hopeless situations and said that young individuals can achieve what they want to achieve if they really believe in themselves. Reminding the participants the words of her Thessaloniki origin grandmother; “Obstacles are there to overcome not to stumble”, Tekelioğlu continued her words by saying that all the young individuals who achieved their goals and grew up in difficult conditions, had their mothers supporting them throughout their journey to success and that they overcame the obstacles with their mothers.

At the end of the event, documentary producer Tüluhan Tekelioğlu visited EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu. EMU vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Communication Faculty vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Yetin Arslan, Cinema and Television Department Head Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad and Cinema and Television Department academic staff members Assist. Prof. Dr. Pembe Behçetoğulları were present during the visit. At the end of the visit, Tekelioğlu was presented with a plaque by Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu.

“Will Contribute to Our Students’ Careers”

EMU 10th International Career Days, which is to continue with other faculties, bring expert professionals in their fields with EMU students. Making a statement regarding the event, EMU-MIKA Director Derviş Ekşici said; “International Career Days is annually organized by EMU-MIKA with the collaborations of our faculties. With these events, we aim to enable our students to obtain the information that will guide them as they embark on their professional lives, from professionals who are experts in their fields, and to make the right decisions about their careers. Due to pandemic, the career day events were organized online last year but this year, we are sincerely glad to be able to organize the events face-to-face and get together with our students. The events will be organized for each faculty in our university and will continue until the end of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester. With its rich content and prominent participants, we strongly believe that the 10th International Career Days will contribute the careers of our students as the past year”.
