World Famous Apple Hill String Quartet Visited EMU Rector’s Office

Eastern Mediterranean University, Education Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department is hosting world famous music group Apple Hill String Quartet. Within the framework of  “Playing For Peace” program, the Apple Hill String Quartet is at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as part of their Middle East Tour.

The Apple Hill String Quartet paid a visit of courtest to Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, 6 November 2014. Expressing their fascination with EMU and the TRNC, group members stated that this is their second time in the country. Giving information about their performances, group members also expressed their pleasure in visiting the TRNC. Prof. Dr. Pulhan provided detailed information about EMU and Famagusta. EMU Fine Arts Education Department Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Başak Gorgoretti and academic staff member Sinem Sadrazam accompanied the group during the visit.

Within the framework of their program on the island, the aforesaid group delivered training for EMU Music Teaching program students under the title of “Masterclass” at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, 6 November 2014.

The Apple Hill String Quartet will also be giving a concert at Bellapais Monastery in collaboration with TRNC Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, ministries of Economics, Tourism, Culture and Sports and Eastern Mediterranean University at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 7 November 2014. Entrance to the concert is free of charge.

During the concert, the Apple Hill String Quartet members Elise Kuder, Colleen Jennings, Michael Kelley, Rupert Thompson, and EMU Fine Arts Education Department academic staff member Sinem Sadrazam will be performing pieces from Dvorak, Mozart, Hermann and Saygun.
