Mayor of Antalya Kepez Adv. Hakan Tütüncü paid a visit to Eastern Mediterranean University and exchanged information on various subjects on 18 September 2014. Mayor Tütüncü first visited the president of the Board of Trustees and Famagusta Mayor İsmail Arter in his office.
Following the visit to the President of the Board of Trustees, Tütüncü visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak in his office. Expressing his pleasure in visiting EMU, Tütüncü stated that his first visit to EMU was in 1999. Comparing EMU’s situation in 1999 with its current position, Tütüncü stated that he has observed an incredible positive change as a result of numerous developments which have taken place since then.
Prof. Dr. Öztoprak gave information about EMU and stressed the university’s importance for Famagusta. Prof. Dr. Öztoprak added that graduates pursue employment opportunities at important positions throughout the world and each and every graduate plays an important role in promoting the TRNC. During the visit, Rector’s Advisor Prof. Dr. Özay Gürtuğ gave a presentation about EMU.
Following the presentation, Tütüncü visited EMU Library, Health Sciences Faculty and Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty and received detailed information about their operations. Expressing his fascination by the library as well as the faculties, Tütüncü made positive comments about EMU. During his visit, Tütüncü was accompanied by TRNC Antalya Representative Münir Korman and EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici. The visit ended with a lunch organised for Tütüncü at EMU Tower Restaurant.
