Magnificent performance by EMU-CEC Ada Isığı and BİLSEM Children’s Choirs

Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center (EMU-CEC) Ada Işığı Children’s Choir teamed up with the Niğde BİLSEM Children’s Choir to give a joint concert at the Niğde University Cultural Hall. During the concert which also included the orchestra of the Niğde College of Fine Arts, EMU-CEC Ada Işığı Children’s Choir was given a standing ovation by the audience.

As reported by EMU Public Relations and Press Office Directorate, the evening began with a number opening speeches. Following the speeches, BİLSEM Children’s Choir took to the stage, performing six pieces with their conductor Serdar Köşk. Following these pieces, the EMU-CEC Ada Işığı Children’s Choir performed six pieces of their own with their conductor Erkan Dağlı. The third part of the concert saw the two choirs performing together alongside the orchestra from the Niğde College of Fine Arts. The audience was comprised of approximately 700 people. After the concert, there was an exchange of plaques and gifts.

“The first children’s choir under the umbrella of the university”

In his speech Dr. Metin Ersoy from the Board of Directors of EMU-CEC addressed the audience stating that they have brought lots of love from Cyprus and noting that Niğde feels like home. Dr. Ersoy went on to point out that EMU-CEC has been meeting the educational needs of those from 7 to 70 since 2004 and that the Ada Işığı Children’s Choir is the first children’s choir operating under the umbrella of the university. Noting that the EMU-CEC is continuing their journey with the slogan “We still have a lot to learn”, Ersoy underlined the fact that EMU-CEC pays special attention to children whom they value to a great degree.

Isa Alıc, Director of BILSEM, stated that children’s choirs come together during such organizations and reminded the audience that their institution provides science and art education. Head of Niğde College of Fine Arts Abdullah Taşpınar underlined the fact that their college greatly values music and always supports such projects.  Finally, Halil İbrahim Yaşar, Head of Education at Niğde Province, stated his satisfaction regarding the organization of such an activity, whilst thanking those involved in the arrangement of the organization.
