Following the 2023-2024 Academic Year Student Council elections held at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), a Handover Ceremony was held at the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate. At the ceremony which was attended by EMU Vice Rector Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, plaques of appreciation were presented to the Student Council Members who completed their duty, and the new administration took over the task.
Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of Ali Ardıç, former Student Council President of 2022-2023 Academic Year, former Financial Affairs Officer Hakan Melih Öztürk stated that they tried to do their best with the whole team when they undertook the task, and wished success to the new President and members of the Student Council in endeavors during the new academic semester.
2023-2024 Academic Year Student Council President Başbuğ Kurtbey Duru also delivered a speech, wishing the new council to be beneficial to all and expressing that they will work hard on fulfilling the duties of the council to the fullest. Duru thanked the former President and members of the Student Council for their efforts and contributions.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Zorlu emphasized the need for the Student Council to always work actively, highlighting that student councils serve as a bridge between students, academic and administrative staff in universities. Stating that EMU has students from very different countries all around the world, Prof. Dr. Zorlu noted that the student council has significant responsibilities in this regard. Wishing good luck to the new Student Council members, Prof. Dr. Zorlu expressed that as the Rector’s Office, they are always ready to provide support.

New Administration of the Student Council visits Rector’s Office
EMU Student Council Administration members to serve during the 2023-2024 Academic Year visited Rector’s Office building on 21 December, 2023. In the said visit, council members visited EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) President Dr. Erdal Özcenk. VYK members Halil İbrahim Orun and Hasan Esen were also present during the visit at the VYK President’s office. New members of the Student Council were introduced during the visits. Rector’s Office wished good luck to the new Student Council for their future endeavors.
