A collaboration protocol was signed between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and Özgür Sanat Theatre and Culture Association on Wednesday, 13 July 2022 at 14:00 at EMU Rector’s Office Board Meeting Room. The said protocol was signed by EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu and Özgür Sanat Theatre and Culture Association Director Meryem Uygar. Özgür Sanat Theatre and Culture Association Board Member Fatih Yalıner, Secretary General Gaye Astan Çoban and Art Director Mehmet Ulubatlı was also present during the meeting. Within the scope of the protocol, it is aimed to organize events especially in the field of theatre as well as the fields of literature, painting, caricature, music, photography, art history and other branches related to culture and art.
“I wish that the collaboration increasingly continues”
Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu expressed the importance of the collaborations initiated between EMU and the non-governmental organizations. Stating that EMU not only focuses on its academic responsibilities, but also aims to contribute the society through art and create awareness on art within the society, Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu wished the collaborations initiated with Özgür Sanat Theatre and Culture Association to increasingly continue.
“Best Wishes for All”
Stating that EMU is one of the most important and rooted universities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Association Director Uygar noted that EMU is also known for the value it places on art and artists. Providing information about the history and current activities of the association, Uygar stated that they aim to contribute to meeting the artistic and cultural needs of all individuals living on the island. Pointing out the importance of creating space and providing motivation for the artist to produce freely, Uygar wished that the protocol would be beneficial to the public, the university and the association.
At the end of the meeting, Association Executive Board Member and Poet Yalıner presented Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu his new book titled “Panayır”.
