The UK-based Times Higher Education (THE), the publisher of the world's most widely-referenced university rankings, announced the impact rankings of universities according to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals launched last year. According to the said rankings, EMU has made it to the 401-600 band amongst 766 universities from 85 countries. Whilst only two universities from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are on the list, EMU ranks 1st among these two universities. A total of 36 universities from Turkey appeared on the list.

The Times Higher Education determined the universities’ impact rankings taking into consideration 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions and partnerships for the goals.

EMU also succeeded in entering THE's 2020 Business and Economics Education list from the 201-250 band announced on November 6, 2019, and became the only university representing the TRNC among the 632 universities included in the rankings.
