Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Pharmacy academic staff member Prof. Dr. Gönül Şahin, in addition to her memberships of the Turkish Society of Toxicology and Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX), added another title to her list: the international title of ‘European Registered Toxicologist’ (ERT). EMU Faculty of Pharmacy informed that Prof. Dr. Şahin is an academician at global standards. A statement from the faculty included the following: “We congratulate our professor on her achievement”. The scientists who receive the ERT title are known as European Toxicologists and are regarded as Toxicology Experts in European countries.
Who is Prof. Dr. Gönül Şahin?
Prof. Dr. Gönül Şahin graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy in 1973. In 1975, she started working at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Analytic Toxicology and Bromatology. In 1979, she got her doctorate degree in the same field. In 1986, she earned the title ‘Associate Professor’ in the field of Pharmaceutical Toxicology. In 1995, she got the title of ‘Professor’ and between the years of 1997 – 2011, she served as the Department Chair at Hacettepe University Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology. From 2011 and on, she has continued her academic work as a Founding Faculty Member of the EMU Faculty of Pharmacy.
Prof. Dr. Şahin has over 100 original publications, over 30 translations and compilations of book chapters and published works in several international indices. She has attended many training programs and organised many scientific meetings throughout her academic life.
