World-renowned graphic designer Prof. Ebrahim Haghighi came to Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) to deliver “Learning from Masters” course in EMU Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Department. Holding many national and international awards and participating in many exhibitions, Iranian designer provided the EMU students training on poster designing.
Within the scope of the course, Haghighi who is the Honorary President of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society stated that he wanted the students enrolled in the course to make two posters. Haghighi explained the projects by saying: “In the first poster project, I asked the students to make a self-portrait by combining typography and photography. In the second project, I wanted students to develop a contemporary communication themed poster, where they could freely use all kinds of graphic techniques and create a slogan. Working with students from different cultures has always been a great experience for me. So, I am extremely happy to be here”.
EMU Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department Head Assist. Prof. Dr. Fırat Tüzünkan expressed that they invite esteemed international artists or expert designers in their fields to EMU to deliver training within the scope of the aforementioned course. Assist. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan said: “In this way, our students have the chance to meet one-on-one with the world's most respected and successful artists and professionals and benefit from their knowledge and experience”.
Reminding the great importance of the international connections in accordance with EMU’s vision, Assist. Prof. Dr. Tüzünkan emphasized that thanks to the master artists and designers who have taught in the department until today, they have a very wide communication and cooperation network on a global scale and that their work will increasingly continue.
