Workshops Held at EMU Cinema and Television Department

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Communication, Department of Cinema and Television, organized workshop activities. Firstly, Evren Özfırat, one of the best "Gaffer" lighting chiefs in the Turkish film industry, conducted a workshop titled "Lighting Techniques in Cinema" at the EMU TV Studio.

Özfırat, a former graduate of the EMU Cinema and Television Department, expressed his happiness to be at EMU and shared his industry-related knowledge during the workshop. He discussed the duties and career steps of lighting chiefs and shared practical insights on lighting techniques in cinema with the students. At the end of the event, Özfırat also discussed internship opportunities with the students and emphasized his readiness to assist them in their career planning.

Özfırat, who has worked for leading companies in the industry, is currently pursuing an independent career. Having previously worked on films such as Yahşi Batı, Patron Mutlu Son İstiyor, and Kocan Kadar Konuş, Özfırat has become one of the preferred names for international productions in Turkey, as international production companies show interest in the country.

Workshop on Radio Broadcasting Conducted

Meanwhile, Soydan Korkmaz, another former graduate of the Cinema and Television Department, conducted a workshop with students at the Faculty of Communication. Soydan, who is a DJ and Producer at NRG Group Radios, shared practical insights on "Radio Broadcasting" by demonstrating the process with the equipment set up for creating a radio program. Soydan expressed his emotions about being part of the event and reuniting with the faculty members from his university years. He emphasized the importance of inviting students to the radio station to experience the radio environment firsthand.

Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad, the Head of the EMU Department of Cinema and Television, expressed her satisfaction in welcoming the department's former graduates. Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad highlighted the benefits of the workshops held for students and their potential to shed light on their career planning.

Certificate Ceremony Held

Following the workshops, Honor and High Honor Certificates for the 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall Semester were presented to successful students in the Turkish and English programs of the Cinema and Television Department. The students received their certificates from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yetin Arslan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad, Head of the Cinema and Television Department, and other faculty members who attended the ceremony.
