Mayor of Büyükkonuk Ahmet Sennaroğlu and his team visited the Rector of Eastern Mediterranean University. During the visit which took place at 10:30 a.m. on 1 October 2015, Sennaroğlu provided detailed information about 17th Eco Day which will take place on 11 October 2015.
Stating that 17th Traditional Eco Day will take place in collaboration with Büyükkonuk Eco Tourism Association, Mayor of Büyükkonuk Sennaroğlu highlighted the importance of Büyükkonuk Eco Day regarding the promotion of Cypriot culture. Sennaroğlu also put forth that along with village activities, products representing the Cypriot culture will be on sale. Sennaroğlu expressed his wish to settle joint projects with EMU and, also asked for EMU’s support in promoting the Cypriot culture.
Prof. Dr. Osam expressed his appreciation regarding the successful achievements of Büyükkonuk Municipality and stated EMU’s willingness in supporting the said municipality. Adding that EMU’s place within world universities is better now, Prof. Dr. Osam put forth that EMU is determined to proceed towards better achievements without sacrificing from its quality. Prof. Dr. Osam also stated that the university will do its best to raise students’ awareness regarding the traditional Eco Day.
Chair of Büyükkonuk Eco Tourism Association Kıymet Alibey, Vice Chair Lois Cemal, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan, Vice Rector for Financial Affairs Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu, EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Murat Aktuğralı and Rector’s Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Arif Akkeleş were also present at the said visit.
Mayor of Büyükkonuk and his team also paid a visit to Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca in his office and provided information about 17th Traditional Eco Day. To mark his visit, Sennaroğlu presented Prof. Dr. Osam and Prof. Dr. Amca a traditional Cypriot burner.
