International Tea Day Activity with Şehit Hüseyin Akil Primary School Students

A group of international students at the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) organized an International Tea Day activity for Şehit Hüseyin Akil Primary School students under the coordination of EMU Faculty of Tourism academic staff member Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso and Şehit Hüseyin Akil Primary School teacher Deniz Kavaz.

At the event, EMU students introduced the tea culture of their countries with posters and presentations also explaining how tea is made and the benefits of tea.  Students were also provided information by Vice Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren. On their way to the Faculty of Tourism, the students visited and received information about the EMU Library. At the Tea Day event students from Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Nigeria, China and Iran performed their countries’ regional dances and songs communicating by speaking as much Turkish as they could thanks to the Turkish classes they received at the university.

A knowledge contest where students who gave the correct answers were awarded a range of presents also took place at the event which aimed for the primary school students to familiarize with different cultures and the special occasions they celebrate. At the end of the event the primary school students gave the thank you cards they prepared for EMU to Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso. The event came to an end with EMU students offering the Şehit Hüseyin Akil Primary School students tea and their local treats.
