Having been invited to prestigious international conferences as a keynote speaker, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics academic staff member Prof. Dr. While Rza Bashirov also serves as an award-winning referee in the most established and major journals of the scientific world.
ISEAE 2023
Prof. Dr. Rza Bashirov attended the ISEAE 2023, 5th International Conference on Information Science, Electrical and Automation Engineering held in Wuhan, China as an invited speaker. In this scientific event covering a wide range of fields from information systems to optical networks, from machine learning methods to deep learning systems, from artificial intelligence and neural networks to biometrics and authentication algorithms, Prof. Dr. Rza Bashirov successfully represented EMU with his keynote speech titled “Interplay Between Paradigms: How to Select an Appropriate Approach for Modeling BioSystems”. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Bashirov discussed how to measure the similarities and inconsistencies between deterministic, stochastic and complex parameter modeling paradigms and, accordingly, how to choose a modeling method for biological systems that often have properties on a mesoscopic scale.
PCI 2023
Prof. Dr. Rza Bashirov has also been invited to the "Fifth International Conference on Problems of Cybernetics and Informatics" (PCI 2023), an IEEE conference to be held on 28-30 August 2023 by the Administration Systems Institute and ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan. In this scientific event, Prof. Dr. Bashirov has been invited to deliver the keynote speech at the plenary session. In his keynote speech titled “Modelling Disease-Drug Networks with Petri Nets” at this scientific event, Prof. Dr. Bashirov will be talking about choosing the right modeling paradigm for the treatment of SMA – Spinal Muscular Atrophy and similar genetic disorders and how to determine effective drug combinations through performing computer simulations. During the said speech, Prof. Dr. Bashirov will also provide information on the work of the small but active bioinformatics research group in EMU.
Presented during PCI2023, selected papers to be determined by the conference editorial board will be encouraged for publishing in "TWMS Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics" and "Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computing”, two journals indexed by SCI Expanded and both of which appear in the Scientific Journal Ranking’s first quartile. In addition, the proceedings book of PCI2023 will be included in the Web of Science (WoS) databases, which carry special importance for the academic community.

Prof. Dr. Rza Bashirov has been awarded the Certificate of Reviewing as a result of the evaluation made according to the quality, timeliness and number of the reviews completed for BioSystems magazine since 2020 and for Information Systems magazine since 2008. Both journals are the first SCI journals of Web of Science, published under the umbrella of Elsevier, while the Information Systems journal is in the field of Computer Science and the BioSystems journal is a world-renowned journal in the field of Modeling in Medicine and Molecular Biology and Genetics.
