18 female mukhtars, who came to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from Eskişehir, the Republic of Turkey, as part of the 8 March International Women's Day celebrations at the invitation of the Famagusta Mukhtar’s Association, visited the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) on Friday, 4 March, 2022. During the visit that took place at EMU Senate Room at 14:30, Eskişehir's female mukhtars met with EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu. Famagusta Mukhtar's Association President Mustafa Yeşilleme, Eskişehir Mukhtar's Association President Hasan Güler and Eskişehir Mukhtar's Association Vice Presidents Sülbiye Bilen and Serpil Üstsoy were also present during the visit.
“I Extend My Best Wishes to All Women on International Women's Day"
Speaking at the visit, Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu stated that they are very happy to host female mukhtars in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and EMU. Stating that as a state university, EMU brings up students in the best way with scientific, artistic and sports activities. Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu emphasized that EMU is not only the university of the city of Famagusta, but also a world university with a multicultural international structure with students from 110 different countries. Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu extended her best wishes to the female mukhtars from Eskişehir and all women on the International Women's Day. After Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu's speech, EMU’s Promotional Film was screened. Afterwards, the muhtars who attended the visit introduced themselves one by one. Expressing that they like EMU very much, the mukhtars thanked Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu for their hospitality.
At the end of the visit, female mukhtars of Eskişehir were presented with gifts by Prof. Dr. İşçioğlu. The visit ended after a cocktail party.
