Organized for the fourth time this year by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Sports Affairs Directorate to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Republic's establishment, the traditional Republic Run took place despite the rainy weather on Tuesday, 14 November, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.. Starting from the front of the EMU Lala Mustafa Pasha Sports Center, the race finished at the EMU Yasin Düşüner Stadium after completing the course within the campus.
Rector of EMU Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç initiated the run with a countdown from 10. Alongside the EMU Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu Oğurlu, EMU staff, students, and the public participated in the event.
Medals Awarded
The Republic Run featured categories for women/men aged 18-35, 36-50, and a general category for both genders. At the end of the run, medals were awarded to the participants who achieved top positions in their respective categories by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu.
In the 4th Republic Run, Beyza Celme secured the first place in the 18-35 age category for women, followed by Ada Kafa in second place and Hanna Kuzniatsova in third place. In the 18-35 age category for men, Ömer Faruk claimed the first position, followed by Aygün Tosun in second place and Aymene Mozen in third place. Gülseren Dayanık earned the first position in the 36-50 age category for women, while Aydın Kayol stood first in the 36-50 age category for men. Ada Kafa received the Youngest Participant Award, and Aydın Kayol received the Most Mature Participant Award.
All participants of the 15 November Republic Run have been awarded certificates of participation by the EMU Sports Affairs Directorate.
