EMU Hosted a Seminar Entitled “Traffic for Kids through English Language Teaching”

Eastern Mediterranean University, Education Faculty, English Language Teaching Department in collaboration with Traffic Education and Research Center organised a seminar entitled “Traffic for Kids through English Language Teaching”. Organised on 5 May 2016  within the framework of Traffic Week, the seminar  highlighted important issues in traffic including traffic security awareness in children, car seat usage in children at different ages, and traffic and language teaching materials.

EMU Traffic and Research Center Chair and Civil Engineering Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Metin Kunt stated that the seminar is delivered within the framework of the course entitled “Teaching English to Young Learners” (ELTE 302). Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Metin Kunt also wished all participants a productive seminar.

Academic staff member delivering the said course Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naciye Kunt stated that whilst learning English in a natural context, children can at the same time, be made aware of traffic rules. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kunt also put forth that the project will be shared with state elementary schools. At the end of the seminar, English Language Teaching Department Acting Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Javanshir Shibliyev presented EMU Traffic and Research Center Chair and Civil Engineering Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Metin Kunt a certificate of appreciation for his contributions to the organisation.
