Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School (FLEPS) organized the 8th Workshop Festival sponsored by Pearson and Saydam Berberoğlu and Kardeşi Ltd., at the English Preparatory School Building B. During the event, various presentations were held concurrently in three different halls.
The workshops, carried out under the theme of Recovery and Recreation, aimed to explore how the effects of the recent negative events, such as earthquakes and losses, have influenced language education and learning in the process of recovery and recreation. The goal was to share solutions, recommendations, and experiences.
The workshops, which lasted throughout the day, started with opening speeches by FLEPS Workshop Festival Coordinator Instructor Betül Eren and Assistant Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazan Doğruer. The first presentation was delivered by Hemani Naran on the topic of "Lessons Learned from MENA Educators during COVID and Strategies for Post-Pandemic Hybrid Learning." The closing presentation was delivered by Sinem Atamsoy Koşar on the theme of "Together We Grow, Together We Heal!" Atamsoy emphasized the empowering effect of participating in professional development activities for teachers.
Throughout the day, simultaneous presentations were delivered by instructors and students on topics such as "Embracing Artificial Intelligence in Education," "How to Make Stress Our Friend," " Identity Reconstruction of Language Teachers: From EFL to ESP Teaching," " sing Google Tools for Collaborative Learning," "Adult Students’ Anxieties about Learning English," " ostering Positive Teacher Experience: Empathy Maps," "Language and the Brain," "Gamifying the Classroom with Wordwall," "Exploring Screenpal Technology," "Crafting Effective Letters of Intention," " A Brainstorming about CoP and Cross-Cultural Practices in Emergency Online Education," "Dialogue-Based Learning: Translating Learning into Concrete Numbers: A Motivational Technique for English Language Learners," and " Unmasking Cognitive Fallacies and Biases: Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills." The event concluded with the participation of EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel, followed by closing speeches.
