Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Law student Emre Çelikel received the 3rd place award in 10th Hasan Özderin Article Competition organized by Akdeniz University. The 1st place award was granted to Taha Yücel from Ankara University who was followed by Hurşit Berkay Çalışkan form Yeditepe University in 2nd place. With the theme of “Hate Crimes”, 10th Hasan Özderin Article Competition was held online on Thursday, 18 November 2021 at 15:00. Top three contestants received cash prizes. Moreover, articles referred as “Article worth Publishing” by the jury will be published within a collected book.

The 10th Hasan Özderin Article Competition aims to develop the skills of law faculty students to use the notion of law they have acquired through education, to make comments, to evaluate the relevant judicial case-laws, and to write their ideas in writing in accordance with legal writing techniques. This year, the competition was organized with “Hate Crimes” theme and, the participants were allowed to approach the topic any point of view they desired to. The organizing committee consisted of Akdeniz University Law Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altunkaya, Antalya Bar Association President and lawyer Polat Balkan, Akdeniz University Law Faculty academic staff member Dr. Yılmaz Yurtseven and Antalya Bar Association lawyer M. Mesut Özderin. Law students from the Republic of Turkey and TRNC participated in the competition.
