EMU Faculty of Health Sciences Discusses Sports and Professionalism in Europe

In scope of the 9th International Career Days, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Health Sciences hosted Beinsports Commentator and Euroleague Speaker İsmail Şenol. Organized by the Department of Exercise and Sports Sciences, the event was held under the moderation of the Deputy Department Coordinator Dr. Jeffry Chauchat. Among those who participated were EMU Health Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç, academic staff members and students.

Şenol stated that within the geography we are in, professionalism is only associated with money and emphasized that professionalism should not be reduced to such a simple concept. In his speech, Şenol made the definition of professionalism by including his knowledge on sports management gained during his master’s studies and his managerial experiences on Beinsports television channel. Expressing that professionalism is an understanding based on the use of certain strategies and working in a disciplined way, Şenol emphasized that at the point where strategies need to be determined, managers make mistakes by obsessing over unnecessary details, and therefore they exhibit unprofessional behavior by having difficulty in establishing the right strategies. The presentation ended after the questions from the participants were answered.
