Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Arts and Sciences has been ranked first in Cyprus in the Physical Sciences category of Nature Index’s European University Rankings, which has been annually announcing success rankings by country and academic institutions since 2015. In the period covering August 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019, EMU was ranked 2nd in Cyprus (including South Cyprus) in the European University Ranking of Nature Index 2019 in all fields with its publications and academic achievements. By ranking within the top 35 institutions in Europe and 10 in Turkey, EMU has earned the Nature Index Badge.
“The Faculty will Welcome Further Achievements”
Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan pointed out that the Departments of Physics and Biology both have large contributions in this successful achievement and emphasized that 5 of the 9 articles published in prestigious academic journals belong to the faculty members of the Department of Physics and 4 to the Department of Biology. Prof. Dr. Özarslan also added EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Physics has achieved the highest score and the first place throughout the island. Prof. Dr. Özarslan also pointed out that this remarkable success of the faculty has been achieved with its vision of quality. Prof. Dr. Özarslan stated that similar achievements will continue to increase and that the strategic plan of the faculty is to reach the targets to be achieved in quality and to make it sustainable. Thus, EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences has achieved this important achievement four years in a row as in the last three years.
