Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication Faculty, New Media and Journalism Department’s successful students received Honour and High Honour Certificates in a ceremony organized by the department. Attended by majority, successful students of 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester and 2022-2023 Academic Year Fall Semester were presented certificates by the faculty members.
“Getting Renewed with Podcast and Webcast”
Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, New Media and Journalism Department Head Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy congratulated the students and touched on the new changes applied to the curriculum in terms of developing new technologies. Prof. Dr. Ersoy shared their contentedness on the success of their students in the field of Podcast and Webcast which are studied practically in cooperation with EMU Bulletin Newspaper. Prof. Dr. Ersoy talked on the topic by saying; “Developing technologies offer different ways for narration within the new media. As a follower of these innovative developments built on the basic principles of journalism, we constantly update ourselves with our students. We keep our education quality open to continuous improvement with our studio facilities such as Podcasts, Webcasts, and field practices”.
“Practical Training Becomes Prominent in New Media”
Sharing her opinion regarding the ceremony, New Media and Journalism Department 3rd Year student Melisa Santürk stated that they are pleased to find the opportunity to increase their equipment with a professional approach with the training they have received. Moreover, New Media and Journalism Department 1st Year student Yiğit Koylan said that they are glad for being honoured by a ceremony like this one and thanked academic staff members of the department. Koylan also pointed out that in addition to theory, it is very beneficial for them to be engaged in production while they are still students in applied fields. The ceremony ended with the certificates presented to the students by the faculty members of the department.
