EMU Department of Cinema and Television Obtains New Equipment

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Department of Cinema and Television that has been operating under the Communication Faculty for twenty years has obtained the latest production equipment used in the field of cinema and television.

In 2017, the EMU Department of Cinema and Television went through fundamental changes following a decision made by the Department and Dean’s Office in order to bring the syllabus to a modern standard and produce graduates with the necessary professional skills for the sector.  As a result, the quality and quantity of applied courses were increased.

Department of Cinema and Television Chair Prof. Dr. Bahire Özad stated that the field of cinema and television requires having the latest technological equipment and the professional skills to use them. Prof. Dr. Özad indicated that the EMU Department of Cinema and Television has obtained new technical equipment in order increase the audiovisual quality of films, documentaries, news and TV programs produced at the Department. The new equipment purchased by the EMU Rector’s Office and delivered to the Department of Cinema and Television includes a 35 mm digital camera that can produce cinema quality film, digital cameras with 4K actual resolution, tripods, microphones, personal microphones, boom microphones, cool and warm lighting sets.

EMU Department of Cinema and Television Senior Instructor Ahmet Goran stated that the opportunities provided to students are being brought to a new level with their current equipment and further technical equipment that is soon to be purchased. Organizing a short education and adaptation program for the new equipment Senior Instructor Goran indicated that students are very excited about the new equipment and that their motivation has increased as a result of the new resources that can be used in their education.
