EMU Arts and Sciences Faculty Member in SARMAC Governing Board

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Arts and Sciences Faculty, Psychology Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Burcu Kaya Kızılöz is selected as a member for the governing board of the SARMAC (Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition). Assist. Prof. Dr. Kızılöz is the first academic staff member from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be a governing board member of the SARMAC.

Founded in 1994, SARMAC was established to encourage and promote the research done in the field of psychology. The main purpose of the society is to enhance collaboration and co-operation between basic and applied researchers in memory and cognition. Every two years, SARMAC organizes conferences to showcase the latest work in the field. The society also publishes the JARMAC which is a leading journal in the field of applied research.

EMU Arts and Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan congratulated Psychology Department academic staff member Asist. Prof. Dr. Kızılöz by stating that they are very proud.  Saying that the English-medium Psychology undergraduate program is the sole program in TRNC to hold the Turkish Psychologists Association (TPD) accreditation, Prof. Dr. Özarslan emphasized that there are only 12 universities in Turkey to hold this accreditation. Stating that EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences has high standards in academics, infrastructure and education quality, Prof. Dr. Özarslan emphasized that graduates can be accepted to master's and doctoral programs at leading universities in the world and that they can easily find a job in the market and gain a place in competitive business environments.
