EMU Archery Club, operating under the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, returned with medals from the 3D Field Competition held in Alsancak Nature Park. The series was completed by shooting three arrows at 10 different targets in the competition. One of the EMU Archery Club athletes, EMU Engineering Faculty, Industrial Engineering Department 1st Year Student Erkan Tuna, who participated in the competition under the leadership of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Archery Federation Trainer Iraz Yücesoylu, won a gold medal in the Young Men's Roller category. EMU Engineering Faculty, Computer Engineering Department 4th Year Student Ahmet Sarp Özışık won the silver medal in the Olympic Senior Men's category, while EMU Law Faculty 2nd Year Student Varol İlker Ersalan won the bronze medal. In the Olympic Senior Women’s category, EMU Faculty of Pharmacy 2nd Year Student Bera Nur Yavuzeş won the bronze medal.
With the start of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Semester, student clubs that carry out various activities under the EMU Social and Cultural Activities Directorate started their activities. Having established their new executive boards, the clubs offer colorful activities for EMU students free of charge under the supervision of their expert trainers.
Possibility in Participation in Competition
Contributing to the development of archery, which has recently become one of the popular sports, EMU Archery Club continues its activities under the management of Iraz Yücesoylu, trainer of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Archery Federation. Students participating in the EMU Archery Club, which has its center at EMU Yasin Düşüner Stadium, have the opportunity to receive in-person training from Iraz Yücesoylu once a week. At the same time, due to the fact that trainer Yücesoylu is also the trainer of the federation, students who join the EMU Archery Club have the opportunity to participate in competitions on behalf of EMU, both individually and as a team.
