Organized for the first time under the cooperation of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Sports Affairs Directorate and the Cyprus Turkish Triathlon Federation, the EMU AQUATHLON competition was held on Sunday, 15 August 2021 at 07:00 at the EMU Beach Club. The start and end of the EMU AQUATHLON competition, which was held in the form of 2.5 kilometers of running - 1 kilometer of swimming - 2.5 kilometers of running, took place at EMU Beach Club. EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Sports Affairs Director Cemal Konnolu, Cyprus Turkish Triathlon Federation Organizing Committee Chairperson and Sports Department Chair Sertaç Bozatlı and EMU Sports Affairs Directorate trainers were present at the competition.
Champion Buğra Korahan
In the EMU AQUATHLON competition, the athletes of Ares, Aspava and Tüfekçi Sports Clubs, members of the Cyprus Turkish Triathlon Federation, and individual athletes competed. In the competition, held with the participation of a total of 53 athletes, Ares Sports Club athlete Buğra Korahan came first with the fastest time of 38 minutes and 35 seconds. While Korahan was followed by Tüfekçi Sports Club athlete Mert Türsoy with a time of 40 minutes 44 seconds, Ares Sports Club athlete Hüseyin Arhan took the third place with a time of 40 minutes 49 seconds.
Women's Category Winner Kirsty Collins
Kirsty Collins, who participated in the competition individually, won the EMU AQUATHLON women's general classification with a time of 47 minutes and 47 seconds. Individual athlete Kayla Tombul took the second place with a time of 48 minutes 27 seconds, while Ares Sports Club athlete Emine Sevil Demirkıran took the third place with a time of 50 minutes 7 seconds.
At the end of the competition, awards were presented to winning athletes by EMU Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, EMU Sports Affairs Director Cemal Konnolu, Cyprus Turkish Triathlon Federation Organizing Committee Chair and Sports Department Chair Sertaç Bozatlı and EMU Sports Affairs Directorate trainers.
