In January 2018, in Chapter 11 “Synopses of Empirical Studies On Engagement In Hospitality And Tourism Research” of a book authored by Prof. Dr. Ronald J. Burke and Prof. Dr. Julia A. Hughes titled “Handbook of Human Resource Management in the Tourism and Hospitality Industries” and published by one of the most reputable publishers of the UK Edward Elgar Publishing, Prof. Dr. Karatepe was listed as the most prolific researcher with the highest number of articles published in refereed periodical journals between 2008 and 2017 on ‘work engagement’ in the fields of tourism and hospitality and human resources management.
As a factor determining both the quantity and the quality of a scientist's research output, the h-index (according to Google Scholar) of Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe’s research is 40. Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe’s research findings on work engagement have been published in major journals including International Journal of Hospitality Managament, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management ve Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management.
