“3rd Turkish-Italian Constitutional Law Conference” organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Law Faculty, Ankara University and Bologna University is taking place under the theme “Rule of Law” between 9 and 10 June 2015.
The opening ceremony of the symposium will take place at EMU Business and Economics Faculty at 9:30 a.m. on 9 June 2015. Following the opening addresses of Bologna University Law Studies School Director Prof. Dr. Luca Mezzetti, Bologna University Law Sciences Dean and Italian Law Faculties’ Deans Association Chair Prof. Dr. Giovanni Luchetti and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, the first session will commence under the moderatorship of Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca. During the first session, Prof. Dr. Luca Mezzetti will deliver a presentation entitled “Rule of Law and Constitutional Transitions”, Ankara University, Political Science Faculty academic staff member Prof. Dr. Çınar Özen will be giving a talk entitled “The Rule of Law in the European Integration Process”, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen will be delivering a presentation entitled “Solving the Cyprus Problem: Blending Idealism with Pragmatism” and EMU academic staff member Prof. Dr. Kudret Özersay will be talking about “The Nature of Cyprus Conflict and Its Repercussion on Constitutional Law Issues in Negotiations”.
The two-day conference which will house discussions on “Rule of Law” from the Turkish and Italian perspectives will host speakers from EMU Law Faculty, Business and Economic Faculty, Political Science and International Relations Department, Italia’s important universities (University of Bologna, Roma Unitelma University, Milan “L. Bocconi” University) and from Ankara University Law Faculty and Political Science Faculty.
A Collaboration Protocol between EMU and Bologna University was Signed
A collaboration protocol between Bologna University and Eastern Mediterranean University was signed at 10:00 a.m. on 8 June 2015. Prof. Dr. Giovanni Luchetti and Prof. Dr. Luca Mezzetti, who both visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam, stated that the protocol will facilitate productive relations between the two universities.
The protocol includes student, researcher and academic staff exchanges between the two universities as well as the establishment of joint programs between the Law Faculties of both institutions. Prof. Dr. Osam expressed his pleasure in establishing a collaboration agreement between the two universities.
On behalf of EMU, Rector Prof. Dr. Osam and on behalf of University of Bologna Prof. Dr. Mezzetti and Prof. Dr. Luchetti signed the protocol. Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, Vice rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca and Law Faculty Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Ulaş Gündüzler were present at the protocol signing event.
