EMU Entrance and Scholarship Exam Will Be Held on 5 June

Eastern Mediterranean University Entrance and Scholarship Exam for TRNC nationals will be held at EMU Campus in Famagusta and at Turkish Maarif College in Nicosia between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, 05 June 2014. The application period for the exam has been specified as 02 May and 04 June 2014 and applications may be submitted to EMU Registrar’s Office during this period. Applications taking place between 20 May and 04 June 2014 may also be submitted to EMU Exam Application Center in  Atatürk Teacher Academy in Nicosia. Candidates may also submit their exam applications during visits to TRNC high schools at further dates to be announced later.

Similar to last year, exam admission fee is 25 TL and can be deposited to EMU’s bank account (100640) at any branch of Cooperative Centeral Bank or may be paid during application at the EMU Exam Application Center in Atatürk Teacher Academy in Nicosia. Additionally, candidates may submit the exam fee during registrations taking place within the framework of the high school visits.

During the exam application, students are required to submit a photocopy of the TRNC ID card, a bank statement, and 2 passport sized photos. On the exam date, students are advised to be present at the exam venue with their ID cards and exam entrance document latest by 9:30 a.m. 

EXAM SECTIONS AND SCORE TYPES

The exam will contain Mathematics, Science, Turkish, Social Sciences sections as well as the English Language Test and Visual Skills Test.

Candidates are reminded that they should answer all four sections of the exam and their scores for the Mathematics – Science (MS), Turkish – Mathematics (TM) and Turkish – Social Sciences (TS), English Language (if they choose to answer the section), Visual Skills (VS) (if any), Music (M) (if any) and Sports (SP) (if any) sections will be calculated separately.

SPECIAL SKILLS TESTS

Following their application to the entrance exam, candidates who wish to study at EMU Music Teaching Program should apply to Music Teaching Department’s special skills test either in person or via 630 14 67. Similarly, candidates wishing to study at Sports Sciences Program are advised to apply for the special skills test either in person at Faculty of Health Sciences or via 630 39 39. Special skills exams for the aforementioned programs will take place on 3 and 4 June 2014.

SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED

Top scoring candidates in each program will be awarded 100% tuition fee scholarships. Similarly, candidates placed to the 2nd and 3rd place in each program will be granted 50% scholarship and those placed to the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th place in each program will be given 25% uninterrupted and unconditional scholarship. Additionally, high school top graduates will be awarded a 20% tuition fee discount.

NEW PROGRAMS

During the upcoming 2014-2015 Academic Year, EMU Education Faculty will be offering “Psychological Counseling and Guidance” program which will be delivered mainly in Turkish (30% English). Similarly, School of Health Services will be offering “Operating Theatre Services”, “Perfusion Technician”, “Radiology” and “Optician” associate degree programs in Turkish.

ADMISSION TO ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS WITHOUT EXAMS

Vocational High School graduates have the right to gain admission to 2-year programs on the condition that they are related with their previous field of study. To benefit from this application, candidates should fill-in the relevant section on the application form and pay 10 TL as the entrance fee.

ADMISSIONS THROUGH GCE A/AS LEVEL AND IGCSE - GCSE O’LEVEL SCORES

EMU is also admitting TRNC nationals according to GCE A/AS level and IGCSE-GCSE O’level exam results. Excluding Medicine Program, 5 candidates applying for admission to different programs with the aforementioned exam results will be granted scholarships.  More specifically, one candidate will receive 100% scholarship, two 50% scholarship and the remaining two will be granted 25% scholarship. In order to qualify for 100% scholarship, students should obtain minimum 400 points, for 50% scholarship, 350 points and, last but not least, for 25% scholarship, a minimum of 300 points is required.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE EXAM RESULTS

Exam results will be announced the same day via EMU’s official webpage and the press. On the exam day, at 1:30 p.m., exam questions and answers will be published on EMU’s webpage.
