Text and Discourse : Turkish (TRAN213)
The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of what a text is and how discourse is shaped through lexical, grammatical and pragmatic functions. It also hopes to demonstrate how discourse creates a nexus between the addresser and the addressee while not simply representing, but also reproducing social and political realities. At the same time various concepts and terms, their use and recognition, textual elements (syntax and form) and contextual elements (theme and topic) will be an integral part of this course.
