Presentation Skills for Public Relations and Advertising (PRAD402)

This course investigates the fundamental principles in public speaking by focusing on the practical skills of public speaking and blends these skills with the classical and contemporary theories of rhetoric. The students focus on full coverage of the major aspects of speech preparation and presentation. Throughout the course, students will consider many speech outlines and sample speeches that have an impact on issues that matter in their field of study. Moreover the students learn to internalize the principles of public speaking. They explore how to build confidence, how to adapt their speech to a specific audience, how to prepare a good speech, how to use language effectively and so forth. Nonverbal and reasoning skills will also be discussed. While helping PR and advertising students to become capable speakers this course aims at helping them to become responsible thinkers as well. Additionally, the course focuses on ethics and public speaking, how to become better listeners and organizing, outlining and presenting a speech. During the course informative and persuasive speeches will also be analyzed.
