Basic concepts: Basic skills, adaptation skills and social adaptation skills; definition of social skills: basic skills, social skills and practical skills; assessment and teaching of basic skills: functional reading/writing, knowing numbers, money and time; development of social skills in individuals with special education needs; social and emotional intelligence in individuals with special education needs; elements that constitute social skills; the importance of social skills in daily life, work life and social adaptation process; assessment and teaching of social skills: interpersonal relationships, social responsibility, self-confidence, solving social problems, abiding by the rules; assessments and teaching of practical skills: daily life, self-care skills; determining which social adaptation skills are to be developed in children with special education needs; preparation of assessment tools for social adaptation skills development; teaching environments and methods; providing education; ensuring the generalization and continuity of the skills developed.
