Management Approaches for Public Relations and Advertising (HIRE210)

This course introduces students to the basic issues that face those attempting to manage an enterprise. A number of different management styles and principles are covered from cultural perspectives (Northern European, American, Japanese, Middle Eastern, etc.), and students are encouraged and assisted to discuss the challenges of integrating different management approaches across global organizations. A core element of the course is a practical examination of the techniques of project management as they are currently implemented in the marketing world. The course covers the management functions, roles, skills and competencies,,foundations of planning, decision making, basic organization design, human resource, foundations of individual and group behavior, understanding work teams, motivating and rewarding employees, leadership, communication and foundations of control within the media organizations, public relations and advertising agencies.
