Organizational Communication (HIRE102)

Organizational Communication focus on how organizations use communication to negotiate their role in the mediated world. The course requires an examination and analysis of communication theories within the framework of an organization. Students will learn to diagnose communication problems and effect change in communication behaviors. Issues that are important for an organization to build a good reputation and image will be covered. Students will explore the major theories of organizational communication and apply them to discussions of real-world situations. The role of technology, leadership, teamwork, ethics and diversity in communication is examined. Effective communication in global organizations and critiques of organization communication systems and structures are also presented. The focus will not be only business corporations but non –profit organizations as well.
