Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) successfully completed ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 10002:2018 Student Satisfaction Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System inspections conducted by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) between 18 and 21 May 2026. The audit, which lasted five days, evaluated the work carried out by the quality team operating under the coordination of the Quality Management Office, together with the preparations completed by the relevant units within the scope of the management systems process that has been in place since 2015.
Delivering the opening address at the meeting held on Monday, 18 May 2026, at 10:00 a.m., attended by the Quality Representatives of all units and Management Systems Consultant Latif Sakar, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe emphasized the EMU’s ongoing investments in academic and administrative quality management. He also extended his thanks to TSE Auditors Murat Altınok and Fatih Sağdıç for the contributions they would make to the process.
Throughout the audit, the audit team carried out comprehensive evaluations of the units through two separate teams, focusing on both documentation and infrastructure. In addition to reviewing management system activities, the auditors also conducted academic assessments and evaluations. A Closing Meeting was subsequently held on Friday, 22 May 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in the EMU Senate Hall with the participation of Academic Affairs Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Burak Ali Çiçek, TSE Auditors Murat Altınok and Fatih Sağdıç, Quality Representatives of all units, and Management Systems Consultant Latif Sakar. During the meeting, the audit team presented the findings obtained throughout the audit process.
Speaking at the Closing Meeting, TSE Auditor Fatih Sağdıç announced the completion of the audits and extended his thanks to EMU for its hospitality throughout the process. He remarked that the audits revealed the effective operation of the University’s quality management systems and highlighted the preparedness and coordinated efforts demonstrated by all units. Sağdıç further stressed that the fact that no nonconformities were identified within the scope of the three management systems represented a noteworthy accomplishment and an indication that the institution had successfully embraced a culture of quality.
Making remarks on the matter, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç thanked all academic and administrative personnel who contributed to the audit process and underscored the University’s commitment to maintaining international quality standards. Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that a quality-oriented management approach extends beyond certification processes, emphasizing that the University aims to achieve sustainable development in all areas, from education and student satisfaction to occupational health and safety.
