Information Security Technology Associate Program (Turkish) (A.D.I.S.T., 2 Years)

Information security technology is a comprehensive field aimed at ensuring the holistic security of information technology infrastructure. This field covers data protection, network security, access control, encryption, security software, and hardware. Its primary goal is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. Information security is addressed with a multi-faceted approach, not only against cyberattacks but also including physical security, operational security, and organizational security measures. Thus, organizations become more resilient against digital threats.

General Information

The Information Security Technology Program is a two-year associate degree program aimed at training qualified cybersecurity experts to meet the increasing digital security needs in public and private sectors. In the first year, students receive foundational education in algorithms, programming, operating systems, IT ethics, network systems, and basic security topics. In the second year, they gain competencies through more practical and specialized courses such as advanced programming, cryptography, penetration testing, secure software development, digital forensics, cyber attack-defense methods, and risk management. Through internships, graduation projects, and sector-specific certifications, students graduate as technically equipped, security-conscious, and job-ready individuals.

Education

The Information Security Technology Associate Degree Program is approved by the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation, and Coordination Board of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (YÖDAK). Educational activities are conducted according to national higher education standards. The program is structured to comply with the higher education standards of both countries and aims to train qualified graduates recognized nationally and internationally.

Facilities

The Information Security Technology Program offers a strong physical infrastructure for practical education. Besides classrooms, there are 13 computer laboratories equipped with approximately 200 computers, providing a broad digital work environment. These labs support individual and group work and are equipped with internet access and up-to-date software. The library, guidance and counseling units, cafeteria, social activity areas, and health services support students’ academic development. Additionally, each student receives an email address upon registration and has 24/7 internet access.

Educational Objectives

The Information Security Technology Program aims to train qualified experts who can secure information technology infrastructures. Students gain knowledge and skills in core and advanced topics such as network security, cryptography, penetration testing, digital forensics, and secure software development. The program supports theoretical education with practical courses, summer internships, and graduation projects to prepare students for the industry. It also raises awareness of ethical principles, legal responsibilities, and risk management. Graduates are equipped to work in public institutions, private sector, and defense industries.
