Cloud Computing Operation Associate Program (Turkish) (A.D., 2 Years)

We aim to be a pioneering and reference program in the sector, training innovative, well-equipped technical personnel in cloud computing technologies who are competitive at both national and international levels.

General Information

The Cloud Computing Operations associate degree program has a highly current and specific focus within the field of information technologies. The main features that distinguish this program from similar ones (such as Computer Programming, Information Technologies, Network and System Administration, etc.) are:

  1. Focus on Cloud-Based Infrastructure and Services: Unlike other IT associate programs that generally emphasize software, hardware, or network management, this program is directly oriented toward cloud technologies.
  2. Knowledge of Virtualization and Automation: These topics are either absent or only superficially covered in similar programs.
  3. Real-Time System Management and Operations: Students gain operational skills such as managing system outages, backup, monitoring, and recovery, providing a more “work-ready” foundation.
  4. Applied and Project-Based Training: Real-life scenarios and project-based learning methods are employed. Students graduate by building their own cloud systems, becoming job-ready.
  5. Targeted Job Profiles: The program is specifically designed for roles such as “cloud systems operator” and “support specialist,” unlike broader programs with less defined career paths.

Education

The Cloud Computing Operations Associate Degree Program is approved by the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation, and Coordination Council of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (YÖDAK). Educational activities are conducted in accordance with national higher education standards. The program is structured to meet the standards of both countries and aims to graduate qualified professionals recognized nationally and internationally.

Facilities

The program offers strong physical infrastructure to provide students with practical training opportunities. In addition to classrooms, the institution hosts 13 computer laboratories equipped with approximately 200 computers, creating a broad digital learning environment. These labs provide opportunities for individual and group work, internet access, and up-to-date software. Supporting facilities such as the library, guidance and counseling units, cafeteria, social activity areas, and health services further contribute to students’ academic development. Each student is provided with an institutional email address upon registration and has access to 24/7 internet-enabled study areas.

Educational Objectives

The “Cloud Computing Operations” program is one of the associate degree programs recommended by YÖK to meet the growing demand for human resources in artificial intelligence, AI solutions, digitalization, and big data. It is intended to be launched first in Northern Cyprus by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). The program aims to train individuals with practical knowledge and skills in cloud infrastructures and services, instill ethical values, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, and support qualified workforce development through industry-university collaborations.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the program are expected to achieve the following competencies:

  • Explain cloud computing concepts, service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and architecture.
  • Define fundamental concepts related to computer systems, operating systems, networks, and databases.
  • Create and manage virtual servers using virtualization technologies.
  • Configure basic networks and troubleshoot connectivity issues in cloud environments.
  • Apply data security, backup, access control, and encryption in cloud computing environments.
  • Provide basic technical support; evaluate and resolve user requests.
