The Back-End Software Development Program is an associate degree program designed to meet the growing demand for intermediate personnel in the rapidly expanding field of back-end solutions within the software industry. This program aims to train individuals who possess knowledge and skills in areas such as back-end development fundamentals, server management, database design, API development, and security, while also fostering conceptual and analytical thinking.

General Information

Today, in the global software development landscape and particularly in Turkey, the increasing demand is addressed through our Back-End Software Development Program. Courses on server-side programming, database management, API integration, security, and big data management provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge of the profession. In addition to theoretical training, students gain work experience in the software development industry through internships. Graduates can work in private sector software companies, e-commerce platforms, and corporate IT departments as back-end developers or software support staff. In the public sector, opportunities exist in municipalities, ministries, and government IT departments as software support staff, programmers, or assistant technical specialists.

Education

The Back-End Software Development Associate Degree Program is approved by the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation, and Coordination Council of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (YÖDAK). Educational activities are conducted in accordance with national higher education standards. The program is structured to meet the standards of both countries and aims to graduate qualified professionals recognized nationally and internationally.

Facilities

The program offers strong physical infrastructure to provide students with practical training opportunities. In addition to classrooms, the institution hosts 13 computer laboratories equipped with approximately 200 computers, creating a broad digital learning environment. These labs provide opportunities for individual and group work, internet access, and up-to-date software. Supporting facilities such as the library, guidance and counseling units, cafeteria, social activity areas, and health services further contribute to students’ academic development. Each student is provided with an institutional email address upon registration and has access to 24/7 internet-enabled study areas.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrates proficiency in at least one server-side programming language and develops scalable, sustainable back-end systems.
  2. Designs and implements relational and non-relational database solutions using technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  3. Creates, tests, and documents APIs that enable communication between client and server applications.
  4. Applies secure coding principles by integrating authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  5. Collaborates effectively using version control systems and manages code changes.
  6. Deploys and manages back-end applications in production environments using modern DevOps tools and practices.
  7. Writes and executes automated tests to ensure reliability and quality of back-end components.
  8. Identifies and debugs runtime and logical errors using appropriate logging, monitoring, and debugging tools.
  9. Models and structures data to meet application requirements and optimizes performance.
  10. Works in agile software development environments, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and daily meetings.
  11. Applies best practices and design patterns to develop reusable, sustainable, and modular code.
  12. Communicates technical concepts effectively in written and oral form within software development teams.
