Cryptography and Network Security (ITSE443)

This course offers a comprehensive understanding of securing data and communications through cryptographic principles and network defense strategies. It covers foundational cryptography concepts, including symmetric and asymmetric ciphers, their underlying mathematical principles, and various cryptanalysis techniques for identifying vulnerabilities. Concurrently, the course explores network security and defense by examining how to harden networks, implement Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), deploy firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and apply concepts like defense in depth. Students will also learn about securing communication protocols, analyzing network traffic, and understanding various network attacks and their mitigation.
