Data Privacy and Forensics (ITSE406)

This course provides students with a foundational understanding of concepts and practices related to safeguarding sensitive data and conducting digital investigations. The course covers privacy principles, laws, and regulations, including constitutional, domestic (e.g., HIPAA, GLBA), and international frameworks (e.g., GDPR), alongside their application to areas like the internet, social media, and electronic surveillance. Concurrently, it delves into digital forensics, encompassing the forensically-sound collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation of digital evidence, exploring relevant legal issues, and discussing various forensic tools and methodologies, including those for mobile and network environments, to support incident response and handling.
