Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) continues to grow with its new programs that are to start student admissions in 2019 – 2020 Academic Year Fall Semester. Turkish Republic of Approved by the Northern Cyprus Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in Turkey, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program (English-medium) is going to start providing training in the following academic semester. Being a multidisciplinary program that applies engineering principles in biology and health service sectors, Biomedical Engineering program is being developed in coordination with the departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and, Health Sciences and Medicine Faculties.

Global Graduates

Biomedical Engineering is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary program which provides a common platform for cooperation between engineering, natural sciences and medical sciences. Within this context, electronical, electronic, computer and mechanical engineers are working in collaboration with physiotherapists, biologists, doctors and pharmacists in order to provide a healthier future for the humanity. During the 4-year training period, Biomedical Engineering program goal is to create world-class graduates to meet the 21st century needs of biomedical-related industries focused on patient care via medical devices and pharmaceuticals, as well as government and private consulting practice – all founded on a strong science and engineering education.

Career Opportunities

With an aging population, and diseases such as diabetes and obesity on the rise, our society is facing new challenges in health and well-being every day. Biomedical Engineering plays a pivotal role in developing solutions. There are countless opportunities for biomedical engineers to make a difference in our world and work in a wide range of application areas, including: biomedical data analysis, biomedical image analysis and pattern recognition, medical device product design, manufacturing, testing and management, simulation and modeling of diseases and biological systems, healthcare regulations, design and engineering of sports equipment and testing and finally, research and development in medical devices and instrumentation.
