The events, held in and around the Faculty of Communication building, were open to both students and the general public. The final day of the program featured a special Alumni Reunion Night, organized exclusively for the Faculty’s graduates. Celebrating its 29th anniversary, the Faculty of Communication hosted an alumni gathering for the first time in many years, bringing former students back to campus for a memorable reunion. The event attracted strong participation, offering alumni the opportunity to reconnect with their former professors and classmates, reminisce about their university years, and enjoy an evening filled with warmth and nostalgia.
Prof. Dr. Ersoy: “Welcome Home”
Many alumni, who reunited after years, attended the event with their spouses and children, sharing the pride and joy of the occasion with their families. Accompanied by the lively rhythms of a DJ performance, the evening provided a vibrant and nostalgic atmosphere as former classmates and faculty members—who had once walked the corridors of the Faculty’s historic building together—came together once again under one roof, celebrating cherished memories.
In his opening address at the event, Prof. Dr. Metin Ersoy, Dean of the EMU Faculty of Communication, expressed his pride in reuniting with the Faculty’s graduates years after their graduation. Established in 1997, the Faculty of Communication has been shaping the communications sector for more than a quarter of a century through the successful professionals it has educated. Beginning his remarks with the words “Welcome Home,” Prof. Dr. Ersoy emphasized that the Faculty has remained committed for 29 years to educating individuals who question, create, and respond to the evolving needs of the communications industry with the same determination and enthusiasm. He also extended his gratitude to the Faculty’s founding Dean, Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz, stating, “We sincerely send our love and appreciation to all the academic and administrative staff whose dedication has made it possible for us to reach where we are today.” Concluding his speech, Prof. Dr. Ersoy reflected on the four-day Communication Days program, highlighting that the Faculty had hosted six talks featuring distinguished professionals, five comprehensive workshops designed to enhance students’ practical skills, and three art exhibitions that celebrated and preserved the institution’s rich heritage and collective memory.
A Tribute to Former Deans
One of the most memorable and emotional moments of the evening was the series of video messages specially prepared for the alumni by the Faculty’s former deans, each of whom has left a lasting mark on the institution since its establishment. Beginning with the Faculty’s founding Dean, Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz, the messages continued with greetings from Prof. Dr. Murat Barkan, Prof. Dr. Peyami Çelikcan, Prof. Dr. Sevda Alankuş, and Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, all of which were warmly received by the alumni. Former Deans Prof. Dr. Agah Gümüş and Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu also attended the event in person, sharing the excitement and joy of the reunion with graduates.
Following the heartfelt messages from the former deans, the program continued with a nostalgic slideshow that took alumni on a journey back to their student years. Featuring photographs captured on campus, in classrooms, studios, and corridors many years ago, the presentation revived cherished memories and created an emotional atmosphere, offering attendees an unforgettable opportunity to reflect on their time at the Faculty of Communication.
